Sahithi Gangaram
Sahithi is from Frisco, Texas. She is majoring in the Quantitative Sciences (QSS), concentrating in Biological Anthropology. She is also on the pre-med track. At Oxford College, as part of a research team, she designed and executed a wet lab study on the effects of under and overexpression of IL-13Rα in TNBC cells. She was also an Oxford Research Scholar, who, under the mentorship of Dr. Zachary Binney, studied the effects of racism on penalty rates in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. In high school, she worked at a university lab, studying how nitrogen-doped quantum dots and other forms of nanotechnology improve antibiotic efficacy in gram-negative bacteria. She also worked on many independent science fair projects, including engineering a sock for diabetics with peripheral neuropathy. On the Oxford Campus, she was involved with Volunteer Oxford and Oxford Chamber Ensemble, playing as a violist. Sahithi joined the Liang lab in her freshman year to remotely work with the computational subgroup in analyzing cryo-EM data.
